Almost 33 years ago, Walwa District of Sangli was a dry land. There was water shortage to even carry out day to day activities, forget farming.

Realizing this drought worn state of Walwa, Rajarambapu started working towards finding a solution to this devastating problem.

After a lot of research it narrowed down to the solution of planning Lift Irrigation.

The project was carried forward by Mr.Jayant Patil, after untimely demise of Rajarambapu in 1984.

Under Mr. Jayant Patil’s guidance ‘Bauchi Pani Purovatha’ was the first irrigation plant installed in 1985. After that it was a rapid success with 36 more plants providing water to 50,000 acres of farming land.

This initiative is a success story because RBPSSK & more than 40 companies sponsored 60 crores (USD 9 million) for lift irrigation schemes, from which 12 crores (USD 1.8 million) was our contribution.

We feel very elated on seeing how carrying out this project has benefited farmers and their families of Walwa.

Every farmer’s happiness after seeing his crop is like a trophy to us.
